The worry this answers: "Resellers start price wars that undercut your other retailers." It's a fair concern. Here's how we make sure it never applies to us. See every concern we answer.
Our commitment
We advertise every product at or above the brand's minimum advertised price (MAP), on every listing, every day of the year. That includes weekends, holidays and big sales events, when MAP violations tend to spike.
In one sentence: if your MAP is $24.99, you will never see us advertising your product for $24.98.
Why MAP matters to us
MAP protects everyone who sells a brand's products, including us. When one seller undercuts, others follow, margins collapse and the brand's other retailers lose faith. Eventually good sellers leave and the listing fills with sellers who don't care. Holding MAP keeps the whole channel healthy, and a healthy channel is the only kind worth being in for the long run.
How we set prices
- MAP is the floor, not the target. We start from your MAP and price at or above it.
- Hard limits in our tools. If we use any pricing rules, your MAP is entered as a minimum the rules cannot go below.
- Manual review for changes. Price changes on your products are checked against your current MAP list before they go live.
- No "hidden" discounts. We don't use coupons, bundles, quantity discounts or promotions that push the effective advertised price below MAP unless your policy allows them.
The Buy Box question
On Amazon, sellers compete for the "Buy Box," the main Add to Cart button. Some sellers chase it by cutting price. We don't. We compete through the things that don't hurt your brand: keeping products in stock, shipping fast through Amazon's network and keeping strong seller metrics.
That means we sometimes share the Buy Box or lose it to a seller who breaks MAP. We accept that. Following a violator down would make us part of the problem.
When another seller breaks MAP
We don't match prices below MAP. Instead, with your permission, we let you know what we've seen: the listing, the seller name and the advertised price, with the date. Enforcement is your call, and we'll support it however we can.
Promotions and MAP changes
- Promotions run only with your written approval and only within your policy, such as a brand-approved MAP holiday.
- MAP increases are applied by the effective date you give us.
- MAP decreases or MAP holidays are applied only when you notify us, and reversed on schedule.
- Discontinued items are still sold at or above MAP unless you tell us otherwise in writing.
If we ever get it wrong
We're human. If one of our listings ever shows below MAP, whether because of a data error or a missed update, we correct it as soon as we find it or are told, and we tell you what happened and what we changed so it doesn't repeat.
How you can check
- Look at our offers on your listings at any time. Our seller name appears on every offer.
- Use any MAP-monitoring tool you already have. We expect to show up clean.
- Ask us for our current price list for your products, or a record of recent price changes.
